Getting Started with Your Research with JumpStart

Permalink and citation info

The Detailed Record includes an article’s citation information and links to full text, when available.  You can find these tools in the right column of the Detailed Record.

Jump Start generates citations…Copy and paste your citation into your Works Cited or Bibliography, but beware! CHECK the citation for correct formatting. Use the Permalink icon to get the stable URL.  The URL included in the “cite” icon is a lying liar, and if you use it, your instructor will not be very happy with you.

No full text? No problem!

If you can't find an item in CTX Library's print or online collection, your options are:

    Option 1:  Obtain the material yourself using your TexShare card.  TexShare is a free passport for enrolled CTX students/employees that allows you to apply for borrowing privileges (physical items only, for the most part) at participating Texas libraries (call ahead before you go).       

    Option 2: CTX-affiliated users can request books, articles, or chapters from other libraries.  Request the item through the InterLibrary Loan service by emailing your citation (and your permalink or DOI, if possible) to

        Requests for books, audiobooks, or DVDs have a turnaround time of 14 - 28 business days.

        Requests for articles or book chapters have a turnaround time of 2 - 10 business days.
